Installation Process

How High Mast Pole Installation Works, Start to Finish

High mast pole installation is a structural and electrical project, not just a delivery-and-erection job. The sequence below is the same process we follow on every site — from a single 20m pole at a factory gate to a 120-pole highway stretch — and it explains why the timeline and cost vary from site to site.

Step 1: Soil Testing and Foundation Design

Before any pole is ordered, we carry out a soil bearing capacity test (SBC) at the exact foundation location. Sandy, filled, or reclaimed soil near ports and riverbeds needs a deeper or wider raft foundation than firm clay or rock. The foundation is then designed as per IS 875 (wind load) and IS 456 (RCC design), sized for the pole height, the number of luminaires on the ring, and the wind zone of that state — coastal Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha fall in higher wind zones than inland Madhya Pradesh or Rajasthan, which directly changes the concrete volume and reinforcement required.

Step 2: Foundation Casting and Curing

The anchor bolt cage is fabricated and set to a template so the base plate lines up precisely with the pole flange. RCC is cast and cured for a minimum of 14–21 days before any load is placed on it — this curing period is usually the single biggest factor in project timeline, not the pole erection itself.

Step 3: Crane Erection

Poles from 20m upward are erected in one or two sections using a hydraulic mobile crane sized to the pole's weight and the site's access constraints. A certified rigger supervises every lift; sites with overhead power lines, narrow access roads, or airport/railway proximity need a separate lift plan and, in some cases, a permission from the local authority before the crane can even mobilize.

Step 4: Electrical Work and Commissioning

Once the pole is vertical and plumbed, we run the LT cabling, install the control panel (auto timer + LDR photocell), complete earthing as per IS 3043, and mount the luminaire ring. Every circuit is loop-tested before handover, and the client receives a completion report, structural drawings, test certificates, and an O&M manual.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does high mast pole installation cost in India?

Cost depends on pole height, wind zone, soil condition, number of luminaires, and site access — a 20m pole project and a 35m port-grade project are not priced the same way. Rather than quote a flat number, we do a free site survey and give you an itemised quotation covering foundation, pole, electricals, and civil work within 48 hours.

How long does installation take per pole?

For a single pole, foundation curing (14–21 days) plus 1–3 days of erection and commissioning is typical. Multi-pole projects (highways, ports) are usually phased so foundation curing on later poles overlaps with erection on earlier ones, which is why a 100+ pole highway project can still complete in weeks rather than months.

Do you handle the civil foundation work, or only the pole?

We handle both as a turnkey scope — soil testing, foundation design, RCC casting, pole supply, erection, electrical work, and commissioning — so you deal with a single contractor and a single point of accountability.

What wind zone rating do your poles meet?

Our poles and foundations are designed to the applicable IS 875 wind zone for the project location, with poles rated up to 200 km/hr where the site demands it (coastal and cyclone-prone regions).
